Let me introduce myself-I’m Justyna, founder of Kobido Amsterdam. Turning 40 this November feels grounding and liberating. I feel younger and more at peace than ever.
A milestone to me, both grounding and liberating. At this age, I feel younger, more vibrant, and more at peace than ever before.
It wasn’t always like this though, but changed when I chose a different path. Instead of chasing youth through invasive treatments or endless products, I now follow one that is rooted in nature, touch, and mindfulness.
The philosophy of Kobido has become my way of celebrating renewal. Not through wanting to turn back time, but by embracing it.
The transformative nature to it is a great source of inspiration. So I want to share my story with you and how Kobido Amsterdam came to live. What’s more: to show how Kobido shaped my philosophy and helped me to reinvent my purpose in life.

The Turning Point: Discovering Kobido
I grew up in Poland, but built my life in Amsterdam. I spent years in structured corporate environments, shaped by systems and expectations that weren’t my own. I followed global strategies, adapted to others’ visions, and tried to fit into the mold of the “perfect employee.” Traveling the world during that time opened my eyes- I was discovering not just new places, but myself. Gradually, I realized what was missing: space for authenticity. My drive, creativity, and hunger for something meaningful needed a place to thrive. I wanted more than a stable career- I wanted a life and work filled with passion and purpose.
A few years ago, my good friend Piotr from Warsaw changed everything. Once a corporate professional like me, he traded his suitcase for a massage table and founded Kobido Warsaw. His story fascinated me. And he actively encouraged me to explore the same path. The decision to follow in his footsteps became a turning point in my life. (successful www.kobidowarsaw.pl)
When I experienced Kobido for the first time, I immediately understood that it was more than a regular massage or a technique. It was a moment of real connection and harmony between touch, presence, and healing. With my background in psychology, I finally found something that let me help people heal not only physically but emotionally.

The Essence of Kobido: Ancient Art, Modern Relevance
To add some context and clarity: the word ‘Kobido’ means “the ancient way of beauty”. It originated in Japan centuries ago as a royal facial massage that combined precision with energy work.
Kobido brings together a unique blend of lifting techniques, acupressure, lymphatic drainage, and deep relaxation. The results are equally extensive: Kobido stimulates circulation, brightens the complexion, and releases emotional tension stored in facial muscles.
While there is elegant simplicity to this ancient art, the practice requires honoring the foundations established long ago. And in doing so, embracing the fundamental philosophy associated with the practice itself.
Its relevance today lies in bridging centuries-old wisdom with today’s growing need for natural rejuvenation.
Why Kobido Resonates Today, The Skinimalism Movement
Today’s skincare world is overwhelming and driven by consumerism. We’re constantly targeted by marketing that feeds insecurity and convinces us that “more” is the answer. Countless products, trends, and ‘miracle’ treatments compete for attention, promising instant fixes while ignoring what the skin truly needs. This cycle creates confusion and dependency- solutions that often solve nothing, and sometimes even cause new problems. I used to follow those trends too- layering products until I damaged my skin barrier and developed rosacea. That experience taught me something simple yet profound: healthy, well-circulated skin needs less, not more.

The Transformation: From Technique to Ritual
Kobido is more than a physical experience; it is rooted in emotion and energy. Each session becomes a ritual, a slow unwinding of tension; a gentle return to breath. When I work with someone, I can feel the moment when their mind lets go. The jaw softens, the breath deepens, and their skin follows suit.
Each face tells a story. And it is up to me to listen: with hands, not words. It’s also a form of meditation for me. Because in a busy world, these moments of connection remind me that beauty is born from presence; a conscious collaboration between mind and body.
This is what I strive to offer in every session at Kobido Amsterdam.
My Philosophy: The 5 Core Values that guide my work.
Authenticity: Preserving the traditional Japanese discipline and technique. I’ve completed several Kobido courses and continue to invest in my growth.
Healing Energy: Every touch channels calmness, balance, and flow. This year, I also completed a Reiki course to deepen my understanding of energetic connection and how it influences healing.
Natural Beauty: Honoring aging gracefully, without trying to battle against it. I use high-quality, natural cosmetics and oils. Our biggest organ known as the skin deserves nothing less.
Self-Connection: Each session is a space for clients to reconnect with themselves. The goal is to create inner stillness and awareness through a mindful touch.
Holistic Well-Being: Beauty, to me, is the harmony of body, mind, and soul. Kobido is the expression of that harmony.
The Celebration: Turning 40 with Purpose
I am filled with gratitude, inner clarity, and peace in anticipation of my 40th birthday. I no longer wear makeup daily or chase after new cosmetic trends. My focus is on health, balance, and inner glow.
And Kobido has become more than my profession. It is my daily meditation, philosophy, and lifestyle. This journey has shown me that self-care is not about chasing outward perfection, but about connection on a holistic level. And that it is never too late to begin a more mindful and meaningful relationship with yourself.
